Some people look at leadership like it only belongs to the polished, the positioned, the promoted, or the people who seem to have everything together. They assume leaders are the ones with the title, the platform, the degree, the clean record, the perfect speech, or the confidence to walk into a room and take over.

But through The Lasagna Lens®, leadership is not that flat. People are layered. Stories are layered. Healing is layered. Purpose is layered. A person may be in a hard season and still carry wisdom. A person may have made mistakes and still have value. A person may not look impressive on the outside, yet still be holding something powerful on the inside.

High performing leaders understand that people are not disposable because they are still developing. Nobody is too low to be used. The person at the bottom may have the clearest view of what is unstable. The person who has been overlooked may understand humility better than the one who has always been celebrated. The person who is quietly serving may be learning leadership in a place nobody is clapping for.

Nobody is too broken to be built. Broken does not always mean finished. Sometimes broken means a person has survived pressure that taught them what comfort never could. It does not excuse poor character, harmful behavior, or lack of accountability, but it does remind us that rebuilding is possible when people are willing to grow.

Nobody is too ordinary to matter. Ordinary people carry extraordinary lessons every day. The driver, the cleaner, the assistant, the cook, the cashier, the garbage man, the woman trying again after failure, and the person rebuilding life from the ground up may all carry layers of strength that leadership rooms need to respect.

A strong leader does not romanticize struggle, but they do not waste it either. They know that some of the richest leadership lessons are hidden inside people who have had to keep showing up without applause. They know that dignity should not be reserved for people who already look successful.
