"Layered Love” Series
A few months ago, I thought about how some men say “I love you”… and then disappear. At first, it feels like ghosting. But sometimes, it’s not you they’re running from--it’s their own love language. It’s the weight of the word love that exposes everything they’re not ready to give. A man can’t pour into you what he’s not pouring into his relationship with God. If he’s selfish with his time with God, he’ll be selfish with you. If he ignores what God asks of him, he won’t suddenly become generous when it comes to your heart. Love isn’t always loud. It doesn’t always sound like “I love you” or come wrapped in flowers. Sometimes, it’s layered—like lasagna. Some people show love through words. Others bake it into a home-cooked meal, fix your Wi-Fi without being asked, or silently do the laundry. If you’re only listening for love in your own language, you might miss how deeply someone is loving you in theirs—or fail to see when they’re not loving at all. I layered it through what I call “The Lasagna Lens”
Real love isn’t performative—it’s layered. And if the foundation isn’t right, the rest eventually falls apart. So next time someone says “I love you,” don’t just hear it. Watch how they live it. Love is not just what’s spoken—it’s what’s sustained. Layers of Love, Sam The Lasagna Lady®
