Through The Lasagna Lens Holiday Series — Layer One: Awareness
The holidays sparkle with light and laughter, but for those healing from or still dealing with a narcissist, that shine can feel hollow. The music, the gatherings, the gift exchanges — they can stir memories of chaos, manipulation, or emotional exhaustion hidden behind pretty wrapping paper. If this is you, take a slow breath. You’re not alone — and you’re not imagining it. The holiday stage can bring out the best in some, but for the narcissist, it often becomes a spotlight to perform perfection while quietly eroding others’ peace. Through The Lasagna Lens, we begin to see beyond that glitter — to what’s real. Like a giraffe standing tall above the noise of the savanna, you’re learning to see the whole landscape — not just the shiny pieces someone wants you to notice. The Giraffe’s Lesson: Perspective Is Protection A giraffe doesn’t rush. It moves with grace and awareness, head lifted high, vision wide and clear. When you step into your own “giraffe view,” you gain emotional height — not to look down on anyone, but to see the truth without getting lost in the weeds of manipulation. From this higher ground, you begin to recognize patterns instead of reacting to them:
This is your first layer of lasagna: awareness. You can’t rebuild peace without seeing where the cracks are. Awareness doesn’t make the pain disappear, but it changes how you carry it. Through this lens, you begin to whisper to yourself: “This isn’t about me. This is about their need to control the narrative.” That simple truth can change everything. Looking Through The Lasagna Lens Just like lasagna, life is layered — and sometimes the top looks perfect while the inside is messy. Narcissists are experts at appearances. But you, dear one, are learning to see beyond appearances. You’re learning that authenticity, not perfection, is where nourishment lives. When you look through The Lasagna Lens, you see:
The Holiday Illusion and the Gift of Clarity The holiday season can amplify loneliness, but it can also amplify truth. When you rise into the giraffe’s view, you start to see where you’ve been walking on eggshells, where you’ve dimmed your light to keep someone else comfortable. That awareness is not cynicism — it’s clarity. And clarity is holy. It’s what helps you say:
Through The Lasagna Lens Practice When you feel tension rising this season, pause. Close your eyes and take three deep breaths. Then imagine yourself as a giraffe — calm, tall, observing. You can see the entire table from where you stand. You see the smiles that don’t reach the eyes. You see the manipulations masked as kindness. But most importantly, you see yourself — standing firm, full of quiet dignity. You don’t need to confront or perform. You just need to stay aware. Because awareness is the first step toward freedom — the first layer of your new, peaceful lasagna. What if you gave yourself permission to view this season differently? Not through pressure or guilt, but through gentle observation. You don’t have to fix anyone. You don’t have to prove anything. You only need to see clearly — and choose peace over performance. When you step into your giraffe view, you begin to understand that not every battle deserves your energy. Some things are best seen, acknowledged, and released. Because not every glittering light leads you home. Some simply remind you how far you’ve come. Scripture for the Soul “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” — Colossians 3:2 Keep your eyes lifted — not in denial, but in discernment. Above the glitter, above the guilt, above the noise, there is peace waiting for you. Layered with Love, Sam The Lasagna Lady®
